The lower Pend Orille River of the Boundary Dam Reservoir is one of the premier paddling locations of the Inland Northwest. There are canyon walls rising overhead, caves that can be explored, and Pee Wee falls plunging 200 feet into the water. There are five boat in campsites for those who prefer a more primitive camping experience. We will experience some river current, depending on the time of day, but no rapids on the river below those at Metaline Falls. I will be arriving at the Boundary Dam Forebay Recreation Area Thursday afternoon to select a campsite. After we get set up we will paddle up river about 2 miles and explore some of the low water level features of the canyon.Friday morning we will paddle farther into the canyon starting at 9:00 or 9:30, whenever the day trip people arrive. Saturday Morning we will attend the Big Foot Festival and Fun Run in Metaline Falls Come join us for a day trip either day or the overnight for both. The camping is free and it's a beautiful setting. |
